A snippet

I have been thinking about what to write next, I am tortured over this. I made the statement when I started blogging I was not going to be consumed by this. I was not not going to stay up untill all of hours of the night, writing and reading other blogs. But that is not happening. Two nights in a row now I have stayed up untill midnight. I am consumed. This can't happen, life has to go on, before you know it I will be calling in sick to work to write my blog. I still have dishes and laundry to do for pete's sake.

I struggle in knowing what to write, which in making that statement in itself is kind of funny. Since I have never been known as one with few words. Hmmmmmmm can a woman express herself with just a few words? Nor have I been afraid to express my opinions. Ask my dear friend Jules about that one. :o)

So I have decided to start smaller. Snippets of my life if you will. Not novels. Yes I do put that kind of pressure on myself. To write the every lasting saga. A snippet is doable. And not nearly as scary. So if you read this and you are a seasoned blogger give the new girl a few tips. I want to grow in this and become better at expressing my thoughts on paper.

So a snippet here and a snippet there is worth a try.

Now off to do laundry
and then to work

snippets, I like that. Really there is no pressure in blogging...except for the pressure we put on ourselves. (wink wink)

Tip...the thing that helped me the most when I was getting started was that I carried around a small note pad in my purse. On it I would write random things that I heard and saw while driving or standing in cashier lines. The doodling made no sense to anyone else, but for me, it was just enough to trigger thoughts, combine themes,...or just throw it away after chewing on it for a couple of weeks.

Tip...You could take one of those email questionares that float around and answer each question as a post to get things going. You know the ones that say things like...Where have you traveled? What is your favorite food? If you could be a superhero what would your power be?

You are doing great my friend!

Jules, yes I am my own worse critic. I have to smile at your tip #1. I carry a note pad everywhere I go. But I used to for ideas for the Prayer corner in the church bulletin. I never considered other possibilities. And if I did a questionare where would I find them.
Have a wonderful day

hmmm, those silly emails come across every now and again.

What are some questions that I remember?....
Like the ones I wrote above.
Here is a link to one that I answered a few questions on. You could expand on any one of these. (Sorry I haven't learned how to do a hyper link in a coment box so you will have to copy paste)

I also answered a couple of more here:

Hi there, I can only tell you what I have done, and that is tell about the important things that have been happening in my life. I blogged for a long time just so my family could keep up to date before I discovered the blogworld and everybody in it. I don't blog everyday, I don't even blog every other day, I blog when I feel like it. It is a chance to tell your story to other people who are going to listen, so tell about the things that are happening in your life.

Some people focus on one thing that happened and tell the story in detail, some tell about a thought they have had, you will find your voice and what you would like to blog about as you practice, and you may well find that it changes over time! Carrying a notebook sounds like a great idea, and as you already do that, why not have one page for prayer thoughts, and one page for blog thoughts!

Thanks Mima, I look forward to finding my voice and I look forward to reading more of your blog. My sister had MS so I now your struggle.

Hey, I like the changes you made. The darker color is great for framing in your blog. And I love the journey picture! Did you take that?
If I could pick one word what would it be?.........how about "unconditional".

I took the picture when I was in Washington DC for training with the Post Office. They had really cool walking paths that wander around the property. Unconditional I like that one.

Hi Kelly Ann, Thanks for visiting my humble little blog and welcome to the community.

Whatever you do, don't feel pressured to write something just for the sake of "keeping up".

There really isn't any right or wrong way to go about developing a blog, it can be whatever you want it to be. My advise would be to just be you. If you feel like being silly then write something humorus, if you have something that is troubling you, consider expressing that too.

Bottom line is it's your site and you should do what you feel like, not what you think others want you to do.

BTW (by the way) I see you are from Portland, I (and my family) are from Oregon City. Hidee-ho neighbor.

Thanks Jeff for your encouragement. It has been fun to read other blogs, it is kind of like being on a treasure hunt, you never know what you will find. It helps to put mine into perspective.
As I have mentioned, its my desire to being able to put into words what I see and feel. I like your style of writing so I will visit often to learn.
